2024
Delving into the complexities of visual language across diverse artistic mediums.
Highlighting challenges in maintaining consistency and exploring the interconnectedness amidst diversity within artistic expression.
MFA Thesis Exhibition
Installation
Presented an interdisciplinary body of work combining oil painting, printmaking, ceramic installation, and poetry for the 2024 MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Wattis Institute. The project investigated the intersection of visual language systems through metaphors of drifting and anchoring, layering, and projection. Material memory, symbolic logic, and structural repetition were explored across media, with arrows, symbolic numbers, fractions, and coordinate systems recurring as formal and conceptual anchors. The work translated painterly marks into sculptural forms and poetic structures, blurring the boundary between image, text, and object, and proposed an abstract syntax for navigating meaning across divergent mediums.

TENDER
Oil on Canvas
84 x 147 inches

Where will we go?
Are you going to eat something?
In the darkness.
Carrying
Walking
Chatting
Questioning
Answering
Under the black
Face the light
Everything hides
We see
We know
We hide
But I see your eyes
You see my eyes
Beautiful eyes
Lovely eyes
What is real is beautiful
Only what is real is lovely
Hidden but not hidden
Hide but cannot hide
Controllable but not controllable
Control but cannot control
Tender but not tender
Tender but cannot tender
Tender tender still tender
Tender tender still tender
Bring a blush
Into the sun
Red turns black
Sun turns star
The sun
The star
The moon
The tower
Flashing
Dropping
Running
Twinkling
Light
Coin
Step
Tone
Tenderly tender tender
Tender tenderly
Tender still
Still tender
